For anyone who hasn't already heard, I got home three days ago with my new guide dog, Steven. He's a two-year-old yellow lab, weighing 63 lbs. *smile*

Hey glad you got your dog! When I read the title I thought Stephen was your boyfriend! That's an unusial name for a dog I must say!

Wish you both the best

Yeah, god luck Joanne, because you are ever so lucky. Us totals in the UK're lucky to get a guide dog these days. All the partial sighties get there first see. I'm almost ready for a guide dog myself, just one more route minimum before someone from the GDBA can come round my house and assess me, see if I am indeed ready for one.

Jen.

Thanks for all of these wonderful responses. i know judging by the title, Steven could easily be mistaken for a boyfriend. It is an unusual name for a dog, but then again, most of the dogs in our class at Guide Dogs for the Blind had human names. There was Howard, Alberto, Marcus, Therese, Sylvanna, Marian, Timmy, Steven, Whitmann, Lynette, and one more dog whose name I can't remember. Dumbledoresgirl, good luck with that home interview. I hope you can get one.

Aw'w'w mhy god, a guide dog called Lynette? My mum was nearly christened Lynette. My gran liked either Lynette or Nichola, but my Grandad, poor ol' sod, actually forgot both these names when he went to register mum's birth, so he got back from the registry office, having officially registered my mum Alison Brownlee instead of Lynette Brownlee or Nichola Brownlee. Roflroflroflroflroflrofl!

When I was going through the security checkpoint in the airport at the Portland airport, there was a lady named Lynette and a guy named Steven, spelled exactly like my dog's name. lol What are the odds of that?

What's her name? I was just bored on the day of graduation, and felt like reading the names of the new people who would be coming in the day of our departrure.

Post 21 by Selena Fan (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 12-Jun-2007 2:21:35

Joanne the odds are rare! My mom said I can't have another dog unless something happens to Daisy! I pray every day that God doesn't let anything happen to Daisy! I got Daisy after my Dad died!

Post 22 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Tuesday, 19-Jun-2007 11:41:50

I know Daisy is very near and dear to you, but getting a service dog is different than getting a dog that's been through both physical and mental trauma. Anyway, we're both doing well. It's been a little over two weeks at home, and things are going fine.
